HMD Global, the parent company to Nokia, has made a bit of a blunder. An image showcasing Nokia’s Android 11 update timeline went live the other day giving out an estimated time frame for each of its smartphones that will get Android 11. However, the company quickly took down the roadmap and, we are left with the estimates, and yet they are not “official” anymore.
According to the Nokia Android 11 Update Timeline, which is vague as possible, the Nokia 8.3 5G, Nokia 2.2, Nokia 8.1, and Nokia 5.3 will get an Android 11 upgrade in Q4 2020 to Q1 2021, which is roughly October-December 2020 and January to March 2021.
The Nokia 1.3, Nokia 2.4, Nokia 2.3, Nokia 3.4, and Nokia 4.2 will get their share of upgrade sometime in Q1 2021 i.e. between January to March 2021. This is followed by Nokia 3.2, Nokia 6.2, and Nokia 7.2 getting the update between Q1 to Q2 2021 i.e. between January 2021 to June 2021. Finally, the Nokia 9 PureView And Nokia 1 Plus will get their Android 11 update by Q2 2021, which is between April to June 2020.
No doubt you got the gist of how vague the timeline is given this now-unofficial Android 11 timeline. We aren’t aware of why Nokia had to pull away from the roadmap but it is being discussed that Nokia could be rehashing the timeline to provide a more on-point timeline although we are yet to find more about it.
With that being said, the Nokia 7.3 5G and Nokia 9.3 PureView that are expected to arrive in November this year is likely to get Android 11 out-of-the-box.
