Just as things were spicing up at the Mobile World Congress yesterday, Digital Trends entered a demo room expecting to see Huawei’s laptops and other devices but stumbled upon something else. To name it, Huawei’s representatives suggested that it is a Huawei P30 Pro and of course, it wasn’t a working unit but a non-operational prototype. The folks at Digital Trends were allowed to picture the nearly finished dummy but you need to take it with a pinch of salt.
Huawei’s representative told Digital Trends that it is a prototype for upcoming Huawei P30 Pro scheduled to launch next month on March 26. But hey, there’s a lot of discrepancies in what the rumors suggest and what the images show.
As said, the back panel shows a triple-camera array arranged in an iPhone X-like vertically stacked camera bump with the branding Link and Vogue. For those who don’t actually know what is it, the ‘LINK’ is where ‘Leica’ will be embossed while ‘Vogue’ is where Huawei brands itself on every Huawei smartphones.
The images show that Huawei P30 Pro will sport a triple-camera array similar to Huawei P20 Pro but instead of arranging two plus one, Huawei has actually integrated all the lenses in a single housing. However, for those who are up-to-date with tech-related news, Huawei P30 (regular) is expected to sport a triple-camera while Huawei P30 Pro will get a quad-camera setup according to the previous leaks. This has raised a lot of eyebrows in the tech community as representatives at the mysterious demo room at MWC 2019 tossed the device as P30 Pro but it might not be.
Well, the report suggests that it could be a 5G variant of Huawei P30/Pro similar to how Samsung rolled out a 5G variant of Samsung Galaxy S10 in order to hail the first-wave of 5G devices. Based on what we know about P30 Pro, it is expected to spot four different lenses with a 10x zoom and a 50mm Leica camera lens as the embossing suggest ‘ Summitar’. Further, there is a mysterious sensor underneath the cameras which could be anything from a ToF sensor to flash unit to an unknown sensor.
As per the design is concerned, the device vaguely looks like a combination of both Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Huawei P20 Pro from last year. The rear panel is a fingerprint magnet and it seems like it will remain the same as Huawei might not put any gradient on the back panel. Unfortunately, Digital Trends wasn’t allowed to roll the phone to view its front display which could opt for a punch-hole notch or any other type of notch but we will have to wait for a while.
There’s no 3.5mm headphone jack but there are a USB Type-C connector and a dual-grille speaker at the bottom bezel. AS of now, we have heard that there could be a Huawei P30 regular, Huawei P30 Pro, Huawei P30 Lite, and a plausible 5G Huawei P30 Pro. But for anything to stay corrected, we will have to wait till March 26 to get an official confirmation but till then, stick to TechTantrum to know more.
