On Tuesday (May 19), Xiaomi launched the global version of its custom-made MIUI 12 based on Android 9 and Android 10. Xiaomi is currently the fourth largest smartphone brand and its MIUI 12 will enable it to broaden its horizon in its ecosystem. MIUI 12 was earlier available in China only but with the global version, Xiaomi users will get their hands on MIUI 12 with a revamped user interface and a tonne of features making it the most powerful MIUI iteration of all time.
With MIUI 12, users can expect a revamped user interface. As it is based on Android 9 and Android 10 depending upon which OS your phone is compatible with, it brings improved multitasking support, screencasting support and enhanced privacy controls at the hands of the users.
The global MIUI 12 version sports something called “kernel-level innovation” that gives it an upper hand in terms of graphics thanks to a new rendering engine. This makes color blending, blurring, and other effects pretty accurate compared to the stock Android 10. Apart from that, MIUI 12 gives optimum control over how users view power consumption, memory usage, and storage and now you can see it in a totally different way.
Multitasking: MIUI 12 Global ROM
Android 10 introduced native support to Dark Mode and MIUI 12 takes it a step further by introducing it to all the third-party apps that haven’t painted their interface black as of now. Next up, the new global version of MIUI 12 takes an upper hand in multitasking support since you can freely use an app or game while using a second app on a floating window without any hassle. In fact, you can move around the floating window and use it independently without closing the app in focus.
MIUI 12 brings a strict and efficient ultra battery saver mode that kicks in when the battery dials down to 5%. Here, every non-essential service and apps on-board your Xiaomi phone takes a dive in order to extend the battery life by up to five hours which is quite astonishing.
Privacy: MIUI 12 Global ROM
Privacy has always been a crucial aspect may it be for Android 10 or the latest MIUI 12 Global. UI tends to notify users about apps using services like storage, call history, microphone, location, camera, and others. In fact, an icon shows up on the notification bar that takes you to a page with details on apps and the services they use and a quick kill switch to put down an app from using any particular service, say location.
Apart from that, MIUI 12 Global will now strip away crucial data like location and other sensitive information from a photo before you can share it with someone. Then we have ads on the lock screen that’s reportedly gonna stay which is highly unlikely.
Anyways, Xiaomi has released a list of 47 devices that will get their hands on MIUI 12 such as Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi 20, and K20 Pro that will get their hands on MIUI 12 by June as a beta.
