Many flagship smartphones have Smart Wi-Fi Switch allowing the phone to switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi to reduce latency and increase the browsing and downloading speeds when either of the services goes down or lags. Two of the smartphone brands from BBK Electronics i.e. Vivo and Oppo have introduced a new feature called ‘Dual Wi-Fi’ which as the name suggests, allows users to connect to two Wi-Fi signals or routes for better stability and bandwidth.
As reported by Sparrow News, both Oppo and Vivo posted respective videos showcasing the capability of Oppo Reno 10x and iQOO respectively to demonstrate the new features that will be available shortly. On the Oppo’s end, its ColorOS was able to register to two Wi-Fi signals i.e. one 2.4GHz and a secondary 5GHz which can be either from the same Wi-Fi router with the same SSID or it could be from two different Wi-Fi routers with different SSID.
An introductory video showcases that Oppo was able to ramp up the downloading speed by 322% while the webpage loading speed took to the roof with an increase by 44.5% when compared to the regular Wi-Fi connectivity which usually supports 2.4GHz while the higher 5GHz is considerably faster than the lower band.
On the other hand, Vivo showcases how two of its iQOO smartphones where one was strapped with a single 2.4GHz signal while the second was strapped with dual Wi-Fi and reported a higher download and browsing speeds. It comes handy when a user is playing a game and requires higher bandwidth than browsing. This could eliminate the need to wait statically in the same room where you have a Wi-Fi router rather than moving around the house where there’s a second router but moving could disconnect you from the internet.
The blog further adds that the technology supports 802.11a/b/g/n which is better known as the fifth-generation of Wi-Fi transmission. It also supports two 2.4GHz hotspots or two 5GHz hotspots or one 2.4 GHz and another of 5GHz as well. The feature will be available with ColorOS 6 for now that you can adapt to on Oppo Reno 10x Zoom version which is the only supported device at the moment.
