Both Oppo Reno5 and Reno5 Pro were announced earlier this month leaving Reno5 Pro+ stranded and waiting for its launch. Cut to now, Oppo held a separate and a grand launch event for the Oppo Reno5 Pro+ which is a flagship in its true sense. It got Snapdragon 865 SoC under the hood along with a 90Hz AMOLED display, a 4500 mAh battery, and more.
Talking about the specs, starting with the display (of course), it sports a large 6.55-inch AMOLED panel boosting a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. It sports a tall 20:9 aspect ratio with a 92% screen-to-body ratio onboard. One of its biggest USPs is its advertised 1100 nits of brightness. Now, the entire display could be lit or a local portion of the display and in both cases, it is commendable. The display has a refresh rate capped at 90Hz and can be variably changed between 60Hz and 90H with a touch sampling rate of 180Hz.
The display is pretty interesting with an all-glass and aluminum construction with a tiny punch-hole cut-out on the top-left corner. A quad-camera setup sits at the back with three humongous sensors protruding a bit above the back panel while the fourth sensor and a LED flash sit flushed with the back panel.
The device is powered by an almightly Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC which is a flagship chipset launched last year in December. It is clocked at a max 2.8GHz and an Adreno 650 GPU takes on all the graphics processing. The phone is equipped with UFS 3.1 storage system allowing users to choose between 128GB and 256GB trim along with 8GB and 12GB LPDDR4x RAM available at the user’s disposal.
About the optics, Oppo Reno5 Pro+ cameras include a 32MP front selfie shooter boosting an aperture of f/2.4. Flip the phone and you’ll find a quad-camera setup. This includes a 50MP Sony IMX766 shooter with an aperture of f/1.8, a secondary 16MP ultrawide shooter with an aperture of f/2.2, a tertiary 13MP telephoto lens with probably a 3x optical zoom although it isn’t mentioned yet. Finally, the 2MP macro camera completes the quad-camera setup. It is capable of shooting videos at 4K resolution and tonnes of features like Anti Shake, AI Beauty among others available at the user’s disposal.
Battery life is among one of the most influential aspects which decide whether a user would buy a phone or not. Luckily, Oppo Reno5 Pro+ users will be rejoiced to see a hefty 4500mAh battery under the hood capable of producing a battery life of more than a day on mixed usage. Need to charge the phone real quick? The phone is supplied with Oppo’s 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 that should juice up the battery to its capacity in just 35-40 minutes as per usual charging trends.
Oppo Reno5 Pro+ packs in an under-the-display fingerprint scanner, a stereo speaker with Dolby Atmos, a color spectrum sensor, Dual SIM 5G SA/NSA support, and a lot more. Above all is the Android 11-based ColorOS 11 out-of-the-box that takes the helm when it comes to the software front.
Talking about the pricing, the Oppo Reno5 Pro+ price commences at CNY 3999 or $610 for its 8GB/128GB variant while the higher 12GB/256GB variant fetches a price tag of CNY 4,499 or $690. The device is available in China at this moment and will go on pre-orders starting January 18 while the phone goes on sale on January 22.
