Sony PS5 leaks started rolling in ever since it was rumored a few months ago and has continued to get numerous leaks on it. However, this recent leak is rather interesting as it gives intel on the Sony PS5 release date which is something we have been eagerly waiting for.
Turns out if not PS5, at least the developers have its dev kit used to develop and optimize games. Apparently, a tweet from a trusted leakster went live on Twitter which reads “Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) will launch PlayStation 5 (PS5) in several countries in the holiday season of 2020 and will make PlayStation 5 (PS5) available in North America on November 20, 2020, at a recommended retail price (RRP) of $499.”
We knew that Sony will launch its PlayStation 5 sometime in holiday 2020 to compete head-on with Microsoft Xbox Scarlett touted to release during the same period. However, with the latest information in hand, we now know that Sony will release the upcoming console a few days early on November 20, 2020, in North America if this tweet is to be believed.
Apart from that, we have a recommended retail price of $499 which is interesting since it has been months and we haven’t received any information on the estimate pricing for PS5 yet.
Anyways, as T3 puts it, the rumors about December 4 release date seems dubious seems Sony’s 25th anniversary of its iconic PlayStation ends on December 2, which means it is highly likely Sony will release its upcoming console during the landmark year rather than going to the 26th.
Also, Sony released PS4 in North America a few days after Japan celebrated the seventh anniversary of the PS3. The same could be applied to PS5 as it could launch a few days after the seventh anniversary of PS4 later next year.
Sony has expressed interest in attending E3 2020 as it didn’t attend E3 2019. Sony will be competing for head-on with Microsoft Xbox Scarlett next year which means, E3 2020 will be a great place to showcase its console beforehand. You can read more about the specs for PS5 vs Xbox Scarlett here.
