The POCO M2 Pro may be another POCO smartphone with a mid-range processor

Xiaomi launched POCO X2 earlier this year. Now all eyes were on the soon-to-release successor to Poco F1 which is yet to make a splash. Turns out there’s a POCO phone doing the rounds and it is expected to release soon.

As spotted by the folks at XDA Developers, POCO M2 Pro appeared on MI India’s website under the section where it lists the SAR rating for its smartphones. The phone bearing model number “M2003J6CI”. Perhaps this isn’t the first time the phone has made itself known. Spotted by a tipster, a phone with the codename “gram” was referenced in the kernel source code of Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro’s firmware as “gram_in_global” hinting its global launch.

POCO M2 pro

As Note 9 Pro arrived with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, it is highly likely that POCO M2 Pro might arrive with the same processor. This is due to the fact that M2 Pro’s codename is “gram” and it appeared in the kernel source code of the latest smartphone in the Note series released recently. It is quite possible that M2 Pro will use a different SoC altogether and the reference was made only because the upcoming device’s Qualcomm processor is compatible with the Note 9 Pro’s software.

The report adds that the phone is likely to arrive with a Qualcomm 7-series chipset which keeps Snapdragon 720G as a probable chipset on-board M2 Pro. At this moment, there’s no confirmation on any details about the upcoming POCO phone yet but hey, you can stick to TechTantrum to get more information about it.
