Redmi K20 Pro begins update to Android 10 in India

Remember the flagship killer 2.0 aka Redmi K20 Pro? Well, it has started receiving Android 10 upgrade in India and a few other markets can see their OTA updates as well. With the true soul of Pocophone F1, Redmi K20 Pro has launched a few months ago and has already charted more than 3 million units sold worldwide including the non-Pro Redmi K20.

Talking about Android 10, now you can upgrade to MIUI 10 based on Android 10 on Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro in India and yes, it brings a hoard of features and more.

Starting with the basics, MIUI 10 is based on Android 10 and puts a custom-made Xiaomi skin on top of stock Android while bringing a few features on top of the features presented by the stock Android. The new OS brings a new look, a new feel, new UI.

MIUI 10 optimizes the space notifications and all the clutter that it would otherwise have to handle by refining the UI and making it a straightforward information-only notification panel will less of visual elements. It also brings the dark mode onboard and it is compatible with all system and a plethora of third-party apps. Now with the new OS, the apps will load faster as it will directly take you to the start page rather than showing a loading page instead.

The new OS comes pre-loaded with a stash of sound effects ranging from sand sounds to water to drizzle to the forest to night, fire, and rain as well. These sounds pop up all throughout the UI and act as white noise if you are finding it difficult to sleep at night.

But there’s more. Instead of pushing all the recent apps in a horizontal-scrolling carousel, MIUI 10 has optimized it to put it in a vertically scrolling view which is something you would find on larger 18:9 displays which comes pretty clean and sleek.

The new UI retains the revamped gesture-based navigation as well so simply drag from the left or right edge to go back or use the bottom edge to scroll a bit to open app previews or swipe across the display diagonally to wake up Google Assistant. MIUI 10 also grabs iPhone-ish bokeh effect on smartphones with single cameras where they can tweak their photos with depth effects for AI Portraits.
