The Asus ROG Phone II is finally here and indeed it is the most beefed-up phone with high-end specifications that you might have not seen in any other gaming phone till date. The ROG Phone II runs on the latest Android Pie 9.0 with the near-stock UI from Zenfone 6 with the high-end game-oriented UI from last-gen ROG Phone.
It sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen which has 1080×2340 pixel resolution with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and has DCI-P3 color space with a perfect color accuracy along with a screen that has a refresh rate of 120Hz 10-bit HDR which is first of its kind. Stuffed with most of the high-end specifications, Asus has managed to keep the phone to a mere 78mm in width. Furthermore, the device is optimized for landscape use.
The gaming phone has a touch sensor sampling rate of 240Hz and furnishes a lower latency rate than the Apple iPhone XS Max which is understandably the fastest smartphone when compared to any Android phones. Other details include an overall latency rate of 1ms and it can be tweaked to function at 60Hz and 90Hz as well if needed.
Asus ROG Phone II sports the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset clubbed with Adreno 640 GPU at 675 MHz and yes, it is the first phone to get the new SoC that was announced just recently. Since we are talking about SDM855 Plus, its prime core has been overclocked to produce 4% more power along with an optimized GPU that provides higher performance by 15% compared to the standard 7nm Snapdragon 855 chipset along with RAM up to 12GB. The device also has perfect antenna placement that makes it capable of intercepting high-throughput Wi-Fi.
Among other beefed-up features, the device has front-facing stereo DTS:X ultra support along with multi-channel audio and has four microphones at your disposal. It hosts an enhanced AirTrigger which recognizes and intercepts touch when pressed while the new swiping gesture swings into action as well. To keep the phone from overheating and thermal throttling issues, it has an improved vapor chamber. Asus offers a second-gen AeroActive Cooler which provides another layer by drawing the overall temperature of the device by 5°C when mounted.
It sports a dedicated 24MP front-facing selfie camera along with 48MP quad bayer sensor plus a 13MP ultra wide-angle dual-camera setup at the back. The gaming phone has a battery of 6,000 mAh with a claim that it will last for 7 hours on a non-stop PUBG stint which is impressive. Furthermore, the device comes with 30W ROG HyperCharge and supports Quick Charge 4.0 as well.
