OnePlus follows a pattern releasing flagship smartphones in Q2 every year followed by their incremental updates later the same year. Although the frequency of models to launch may differ, this year won’t be different as well. The company is gearing up for its next massive launch of the OnePlus 8 series and reportedly, it will arrive locked with Verizon in the United States.
Although the reports are yet to be confirmed by the Big Red as Verizon is known, it is likely that OnePlus will roll our OnePlus 8 5G in the United States with Verizon on its small mmWave network. There is a question if OnePlus 8 Pro will make it to the shelves in the carrier’s outlets as well.
OnePlus is sold in the United States by T-Mobile and with the Verizon reports pouring in, it will be a sight to watch as two of the three major carriers in the United States will showcase OnePlus 8 series on their shelves after Sprint & AT&T complete their merge.
With that being said, OnePlus 8 5G with Verizon will arrive with its own share of bloatware which kind of contradicts OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau’s comment that the company design practices mainly on burdenless user experience. With OnePlus joining Verizon, it is likely that the carrier will surely add its own pre-loaded apps but it is something we are yet to find out. Along with that, OnePlus 8 will also have VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling among other features on-board.
OnePlus is likely to introduce OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro sometime in April or May this year followed by their incremental ‘T’ models sometime in October or November. OnePlus already showcased OnePlus Concept One by McLaren which has state-of-the-art disappearing rear camera setup.
