Xiaomi Mi Play, a rebranded version of Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro is scheduled for its official launch in China on December 24. We did a little digging into the specifications, features, and Xiaomi Mi Play price and yes, the Chinese manufacturer has a lot of things to offer with the new series.
Xiaomi Mi Play marks the onset of first-ever gaming-oriented smartphone from Xiaomi similar to Huawei Honor Play, Asus ROG, speculated an unknown gaming Samsung Galaxy phone, etc. The phone will feature a waterdrop notch similar to OnePlus 6T designed in an iPhone X-esque like notch which actually made it a trend among recent Android smartphones and Xiaomi has been a keen follower of the notch.
Further, according to the TENAA certification listing under the moniker ‘Redmi Note 7 Pro’, the Mi Play sports an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a yet unknown series although could expect it to sport an SDM845 SoC similar to POCO F1 which indeed is a subsidiary of Xiaomi.
Moving on, the phone houses a 5.84-inch FHD+ curved glass display with a screen resolution of 2280×1080 pixels and will feature a metallic unibody camouflaged to resemble a glass-like finish at the back. Moving on, the iPhone X-esque Mi Play features a vertically aligned dual-camera setup at the back with a single sensor at the front and finally an optical fingerprint display below the rear camera assembly that resembles almost all Xiaomi smartphones.
Since Mi Play is a gaming oriented smartphone, it boasts a 3/4/6GB RAM along with a number of graphics, audio and display optimizations techniques and algorithms in order to sustain graphics-intensive games like PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, etc without lagging and irritating masses or without getting much hotter which reduces battery capacity and affect battery health as well. It will be available in 32/64/128GB internal storage configurations backed by a subtle 2,900 mAh which might be a giveaway since even Honor Play has a colossal 3,750 mAh battery.
But what’s interesting is the fact that the Chinese manufacturer has unofficially stated that it will offer unlimited data plan without any price and in fact, it could offer data plan subscription totally free for a year which translates to a lot of money saved which makes it a lucrative deal to grab.
As of now, we don’t have any information whether the phone will offer the unlimited data plan for Chinese customers only or if Xiaomi would unveil it in India and other countries too.
Xiaomi Mi Play Price
Considering the fact that Huawei launched it’s Honor Play at a price tag of Rs 19,999/- for its base variant and then, Xiaomi did the same with POCO F1 at Rs 20,000/-, we are actually expecting a similar price range of Rs 19,000/- to Rs 21,000/- for the base 3GB/32GB variant but since it is Xiaomi, you can expect a fair pricing scheme on all Mi Play units of all configurations since the brand limits its margins to only 5% as opposed to Apple, Samsung which has a margin of 65% in some models.
