Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

After skipping the S22 FE and just a year after releasing the S21 FE, the South Korean giant Samsung is back with its next-gen Fan Edition aka the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE. The phone brings key upgrades over its predecessors stepping closer to the flagship S23 series while taking some inputs from S22+ as well. Check out the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE launch coverage right here.

Samsung Unveils Galaxy S23 FE with 4nm Chipset

Surprisingly, Samsung launched the Galaxy S23 FE with a ‘4nm’ chipset without naming the actual chip in use. Yep, you heard it right, Samsung just pulled an Apple which means either you will get your hands on an in-house Exynos 2200 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. I would prefer the latter, however, it will be region-specific so unless you fly somewhere else to get the Snapdragon version, you’ll have to stick with the Exynos variant in your home country*.

Moving on, we have 8GB RAM that replaces yesteryear’s 6GB configuration. There’s 128GB or 256GB of internal storage which is enough to store all your photos and videos and more with ease. On the optics front, we have a triple rear camera setup arranged in a vertical stack without a camera island. There’s a 50MP primary (up from 12MP on S21 FE), a 10MP ultrawide with 123° FoV, and an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. The front camera took a hit from 32MP to 10MP on the S23 FE but hey, even that is okay in most cases.

When you hold a Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, you will be met gladly by a 6.4” flat Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel hosting FHD+ resolution clubbed with a 60-120Hz refresh rate. The phone weighs a hefty 209g compared to 177g S21 FE. It is also taller and thicker than its predecessors but slightly wider than the S21 FE.

Many OEMs are using ‘recycled materials’ for the construction. Samsung too is using recycled materials for the body and internals including the use of pre-consumer glass, aluminum, and plastic.

On the software front, we have Android 13-powered OneUI 5.1 with a 4 OS upgrades promise and 5 years of security patches. Call that a top-notch Samsung Galaxy phone and you won’t be wrong. Samsung Galaxy S23 FE specs also include an IP68 rating that will keep the phone protected from water and dust while a Samsung Care+ subscription gives you cheaper repairs on accidental damage, in case.

It stands at 4,500mAh with a wired 25W fast charging support that takes the battery from 0% to 50% in just 30 minutes. There’s also wireless charging support to enjoy so yes, Galaxy S23 FE is a promising purchase if you are interested in switching from x-brand to Samsung.
