Apple iPhone 15 series wrapped up its launch last month and seems like we are already moving ahead with iPhone 16 series leaks. Jeff Pu, a well-known tech analyst, detailed some major improvements that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will bring on-board next year. It includes Wi-Fi 7, a Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 modem for faster 5G download speeds, and better battery life among others. Let’s have a look at the leaks that recently floated online.
iPhone 16 Pro to gain Wi-Fi 7, Snapdragon X75 modem & 48MP cameras
First up, we have the Wi-Fi modem. iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will upgrade to Wi-Fi 7, up from Wi-Fi 6e on iPhone 15 Pro models, which promises better speeds. There’s also a Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 5G modem in the works that will provide faster 5G download speeds compared to the Snapdragon X70 found on the iPhone 15 series. Doing so improves the battery life as well. This should up data speeds of up to 46Gbps.
Moving on, we have updated 48MP ultrawide cameras on the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. For context, both iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max use a 12MP ultrawide snapper. Both the models are likely to have a 12MP tetraprism lens with 5x optical zoom much like iPhone 15 Pro Max.
As per earlier speculation, the iPhone 16 Pro is likely to gain 0.2” of screen real estate with an effective size of 6.3” while the Pro Max reaches 6.9”. This is probably Apple’s response to the latest flagship phones like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra which sports a large display onboard.
Apart from that, the iPhone 16 Pro series will upgrade to an A18 Bionic (or A18 Pro) SoC made on a 3nm node manufactured by TSMC. The iPhone 16 series, on the other hand, will take away the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro series. This makes the iPhone 15 Pro and 16 equivalent in terms of performance just as in the case of previous iterations i.e. iPhone 14 Pro and 15.
