OnePlus 12 could get a wooden texture back panel similar to maiden OnePlus One

OnePlus has largely focused on metal and glass-centric design, however, it wasn’t the same earlier. The next-gen OnePlus 12 is expected to pull off a OnePlus One (released back in April 2014) where it could likely get a wooden textured back panel, a rather drastic transition from the regular glassback design.

Spotted by tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo, the OnePlus 12 was spotted with a wooden back panel much like the OnePlus One Walnut Edition that debuted in 2014. There’s a fair probability that it could be just a wood texture case. There’s an ongoing debate about whether it’s actual wood plastic or glass that mimics wood texture much like phone cases.

For those who are unversed, the OnePlus One comes with a removable wood textured back. The Chinese juggernaut is also celebrating its 10th anniversary which means something special is likely in the stores.

OnePlus 12 is set to make its debut in China on December 4. The international launch is slated to be sometime in January next year. The OnePlus 12 arrives with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC along with a 6.82” BOE X1 LTPO panel boasting up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness, a 100W fast charging tech, a 48MP dual-layer Sony LYT-808 primary camera paired alongside 64MP Omnivision OV64B with 3x telephoto zoom and a 48MP ultrawide camera.
